Hoe, hoe, hoe! Merry Christmas!

This year, we’re putting up a Christmas tree with a difference. Actually, 203 of them to be exact...

Instead of posting Christmas cards we thought we’d get our hands dirty and plant some trees on behalf of each and every one of the clients and suppliers on our database. That’s 203 of the 700 trees due to be planted by Sow The City as part of a social enterprise scheme in Greater Manchester.

Founded in 2009, Sow The City helps to create greener spaces in school grounds, community sites and public parks. As this is our hometown, we thought what better way to say Merry Christmas than to join the planting team at Willow Farm in Urmston.

We hope you’ll agree it’s a great way to do our bit for the environment while delivering a difference to local folk. Sow The City choose areas that will flourish from the health and well-being benefits of natural woodland spaces, making use of brownfield sites and wasteland.

As well as creating nicer places to live and work, planting native species benefits local wildlife and supports biodiversity. The sites are all managed so that the saplings we plant will grow to maturity to be enjoyed by generations to come.

We’re busy getting a date in the diary for the big day and will update you on here soon. So, keep an eye on our social channels for updates. In the meantime, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of our Foundry friends.
